ALLIED INFRASTRUCTURE WINS PLANNED RENEWALS FRAMEWORK FOR MANCHESTER & EAST MIDLANDS AIRPORTS
13-12-2024
Manchester Airports Group (MAG) has appointed Allied Infrastructure as the primary contractor for Manchester Airport (MAN) and East Midlands Airports (EMA) on Lot 5 of their Partnership Framework. This prestigious framework will commence in September 2024, for a period of five years, with the potential to extend to eight years.
The experienced team at Allied are delighted to be furthering their partnership with MAG – the UK’s largest airport group - having worked with them as the incumbent contractor for the past seven years at both Manchester and East Midlands airports. Manchester Airport is the only airport outside of London with two full-length runways, and in 2023 served 25m passengers. East Midlands Airport is home to the UK’s largest pure freight operation in addition to its passenger operations, and therefore plays a vital role in UK global trade. In 2023 East Midlands handled 395,000 tonnes of cargo.
The Partnership Framework bid process involved quality, price and presentation elements. Bidders had to set out how they would resource and manage the framework to meet MAG’s requirements, as well as how they would support the client’s key objectives around collaboration and CSR. Drawing on more than seven years’ experience with MAG, and their extensive wider airfields experience, Allied were able to develop an innovative, high-quality offer.
David Fraser, Managing Director from Allied Infrastructure said “Extending our relationship with Manchester Airports Group for a further five years is fantastic for our team. We are looking forward to being a part of an exciting future for MAG as they strive towards achieving their Manchester Airport Transformation programme and delivering the planned improvement works at East Midlands Airport.”
Over the duration of the framework, the team will drive efficiencies and benefits through collaborative working, the use of digital tools, and best practises in asset management. As part of the global Colas Group, Allied are able to access innovative solutions (including those which deliver carbon reduction in materials and operational delivery) for the benefit of MAG, who are working towards a sustainable future, and achieving Net Zero aviation by 2050.
Drawing on experience gained by the Colas Social Value team in the East Midlands and Manchester, where an award-winning programme was developed, Allied will support MAG’s sustainability strategy, which seeks to provide employment and skills opportunities for all, and to support the local communities with the issues that matter most to them.
