Colas Completes East Midlands Runway Improvements

Colas have recently completed runway maintenance repairs at East Midlands Airport (EMA) as part of the Manchester Airport Group (MAG) Framework.

Allied Infrastructure, part of the Colas team, carried out the repairs which included rubber removal, refreshment of line markings, overbanding, asphalt patching, new taxiway fillet widening, AGL replacement, and much more, all with minimal disruption to the airport’s operations.

As one of the UK’s main cargo hubs, EMA runs a busy flight schedule with cargo and commercial flights. After extensive planning, and the implementation of methodology developed through years of experience, the team delivered the completion of the repairs during short operational windows of 12am-5am, minimising impact and returning the runway for operations with flights landing from 6am.
