DFT Special Recognition Awards Shortlist
In more exciting news, Colas has been shortlisted for four awards in the upcoming Department for Transport (DFT) Special Recognition Awards, which are part of the annual LCRIG Strictly Highways event!
The DFT Special Recognition Awards honour exceptional individuals and organisations that have gone the extra mile to deliver change in the highways and transport technology sector.
In partnership with Cheshire West and Chester Council (CWAC), Colas has been shortlisted in two award categories: the Net Zero Project of the Year Award, in recognition of the of the use of the Recycol low carbon cold-recycling solution for local to strategic roads, and the Collaborative Partnership Award, recognising the close partnership on the contract.
The ADEPT and Colas Retention and Recruitment campaign has also been shortlisted in the ‘Employer Initiative of the Year’ award category in recognition of a campaign launched to assist local authorities in addressing common challenges in EDI and staff retention in the workplace. Through a retention toolkit, the ‘Great Practice Guide’, and best practice guidelines, we aim to boost the retention of our industry’s skilled and experienced people, and to help pave the way for a more diverse and dynamic workforce.
The Liverpool City Council: ‘Ecosystem of Things’ ADEPT Live Labs 2: Decarbonising Local Roads project, in which Colas is a project partner, has also been shortlisted in the Collaborative Partnership Category. ADEPT Live Labs 2: Decarbonising Local Roads in the UK is a three-year, UK-wide £30 million programme funded by the Department for Transport that aims to decarbonise the local highway network.
The ‘Ecosystem of Things’ project is one of seven Live Lab 2 projects and targets the challenge of decarbonising highways delivery and the road asset in complex city contexts, demonstrating that this benefits the local economy and people.
