Colas Named in CN Workforce Awards Shortlist

Colas has been nominated for six prestigious CN Workforce Awards! These awards recognise the outstanding achievements of those striving to make the construction industry and their organisations great places to work.

Lucy Fell, Strategic Director at Colas has been shortlisted in the Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Leader of the Year category, in recognition to her dedication to tackling the barrier that deter women from entering highways, advocating for essential reforms and driving solutions.

In the Inspiring Women in Construction category, Libby Bowers, SHE & Facility Manager on the Cheshire West and Chester contract, has been shortlisted in recognition of her dedication to empowering individuals, promoting gender equality, and addressing women’s health issues in the workplace.

Our Period Dignity campaign, ‘Ending the Stigma’ has been shortlisted in two categories, firstly, the Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Initiative of the Year category, and the Mental Health & Wellbeing Initiative of the Year category, highlighting the importance of normalising conversations about gender-based health disparities, and empowering women to discuss their periods openly in the workplace.

Colas is honoured to have collaborated with ADEPT on two campaigns that have also received nominations:

In the Equality, Diversity & Inclusion Initiative of the Year category, Colas and ADEPT have been shortlisted for the ‘PLACE For All’ campaign, which spotlights positive experiences, showcasing our sector as an inclusive and welcoming environment. As part of the campaign, we also provide local authorities best practice guidelines to address common challenges in EDI and staff retention, helping to pave the way for a more diverse and dynamic workforce.

Our second joint nomination with ADEPT is our great practice guide for retention in the Innovation in Workplace Culture category. In a joint effort across the sector, we launched a campaign to boost the retention of our industry’s skilled and experienced people. Following thorough research into the diverse needs of sector employees, we developed the retention toolkit, the Great Practice Guide.

Congratulations to all nominees! We look forward to the award ceremony on Thursday 14 November.
