Colas Secures Multiple Contracts in the North

Colas is delighted to announce that it continues to experience growth across the UK and has successfully secured multiple new contracts and contract extensions in the North.

Leeds City Council have announced that Colas is one of two contractors on their £60m minor works four-year framework. Colas are looking forward to continuing to work with Leeds City Council on highways within the City having recently completed several schemes that have included the City Connect 3 cycle highway and Merrion Way paving and bollard scheme.

The Colas team have also secured a place on all 12 lots of the £88 million Yorkshire Alliance Framework for Surfacing & Planing Works. The framework, led by Kirklees Council on behalf of the Yorkshire Alliance Framework (YAF) also includes the councils of Bradford, Leeds, Wakefield, York and Calderdale is for 2 years and started from 29 March 2021. It is to provide surfacing and planing works for carriageways and footways on both highway and non-highway sites and sees the 12 lots divided into construction works under lots 1-6, and design and build under lots 7-12.

The experienced Vehicle Restraint System (VRS) team at Colas have secured a place on Lot 2 of Lancashire County Council’s framework for General VRS Systems Repair, Replacement, Maintenance & Inspection. The four-year framework will see Colas replace life expired, damaged and non-standard VRS across Lancashire until 2025.

NEPO recently launched a framework agreement offering UK public sector organisations a route to fulfil their civil engineering and infrastructure projects. The NEPO Civil Engineering & Infrastructure Works framework also started in March 2021, and Colas is one of 27 suppliers named. The lots within the framework cover both national, enabling all public sector organisation to access the named suppliers via the framework, as well as more specific lots in the North East.

In addition to securing new contracts, the recent confirmation that the YORcivil 2 Framework has been extended by a further 2 years until August 2023, see’s Colas retain a place on 7 lots within the framework. Within the South and West areas of the framework Colas are on lots 3 and 4 and the Colas SIAC joint venture on lots 5 and 6, with further places secure in the North and East on lots 2 for Colas and 3 and 4 for Colas SIAC.

Colas’ joint venture A-one+, has recently agreed to a contract extension with Highways England until March 2022 for the Design and Construction activities for delivery of the 2021/22 capital works programme in Area 12. The team will continue to maintain their high standards and levels of service delivery in Area 12 for the 2021/22 year of RIS 2 to ensure a successful conclusion to the Area 12 contract.

Having experienced growth in the North, Colas relocated their offices in Leeds to larger premises at Landmark Court in order to better accommodate the expanding team, Louis Ledoux, Director of Regional Operations for the North said “Colas is committed to growth in the North of England and has opened in March 2021 a new central regional office to support that ambition.”
